10th meeting of the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra

from the 3rd- 12th April 2010 

The 10th meeting will be from 3rd – 12th April, 2010 in Pula (Croatia). The meeting is organized by the European Guitar and Mandolin Association (EGMA) in cooperation with the Federation Hrvatski Savez Mandolinistickih Orkestara, Mr. Josip Oreskovic, Croatia.

The planned music program for the meeting is:

- Salvatore Falbo: "Spagna"
-Eileen Packenham: "Kithara"
- Claudio Mandonico: "Jazz .Pop.Rock. Suite"
- Vlado Sunko: "Carnival"
-Heinrich Konietzny: "Kammerkonzert für Quartett und Zupforchester"
- Klaus Wuesthoff: "Concierto de Samba” für 3 Gitarren und Zupforchester
- Luigi Salomon: "Transition"

The artistic lecturers are:

- Vlado Sunco (conductor, Croatia)
-Ugo Orlandi (1st mandolin, Italy)
- Mari Fe Pavon (2nd mandolin, Luxemburg)
-Olga Dubowskaja (mandola, Belarus)
- Carlos Blanco Ruiz (guitar, Spain)

Course for Mandolin Teachers starting 2009

Following the success of the Teachers course which ended in 2007 the British BMG Federation is running a Mandolin Teachers course in 2009/2010. The course will run over 5 weekends. The course is open to all; and will be of interest to practising teachers and to those who aspire to teach, and to those who took part in the 2005/06 course.

The first course weekend is planned for December 2009. Further dates will be in 2010. Participants can either sign up for the whole course which will amount to 12 credits towards qualification, or can choose which ‘free standing’ weekends they wish to take part in, which will earn individual credits.
The content of the course will focus upon
* The methodology of teaching
* Celtic Music forms and styles
* Mandolin History and Repertoire

There will also be individual lessons from experienced tutors, workshops in ensemble leading and a variety of topics related to group and individual teaching of both adults and children.

The qualifications which can be gained are twofold
* Teachers Diploma under our present arrangement with Victoria College
* Teachers Diploma  with ICMA with an emphasis on Scottish Traditional Music

Course Venue:
Abington Hotel near Biggar in Scotland, which has excellent facilities for our purpose and is an establishment we have used before and which is also easily accessible from the M74 Motorway.
The cost will be £250.00 per weekend on for Full Board accommodation in twin rooms (a single room supplement applies) and will be inclusive of all tuition and materials.
