4th Mandolin Symposium 1st -5th October 2008

The 4th Mandolin Symposium was organised in conjunction with Bundesakademie für musikalische Jugendbildung and the European Guitar and Mandolin Association and the Bund Deutscher Zupfmusiker.

Invited were not only mandolin tutors and teachers, conductors and performer, but everyone who had a strong interest in mandolin music and the education of mandolin players.
The aim was to establish a platform for the exchange of expertise, interesting discussions and inspiring encounters.

Programme


Mornings - The approaches to the education of mandolin players


* The Project: JeKi – »Jedem Kind ein Instrument« (“an instrument for each child”)
* MoMo – »Monheimer Modell«
* Die Zupferklasse – Klassenmusizieren mit Zupfinstrumenten (class music with fretted instruments)
* Suzuki-Methode mit der Mandoline (the Suzuki method on the mandolin)
* Kinder-ausbildung im Verein (the education of children in the mandolin club/orchestra)
* Das Mandolinen-Spiel (the mandolin game)


Early Afternoon - »Intermezzi«

Prof. Caterina Lichtenberg will inform about the education of mandolin players in University.
Prof. Marga Wilden-Hüsgen and Stefanie Rauch will introduce newly published literature for mandolin of different difficulty.


Afternoon - The position of the mandolin in the international cultural life

Covered aspect of the lectures will be the education of mandolin players, the orchestras and ensembles, the cultural life and the further education.

Performed will be music in lesser heard combinations on

Organisation

Conference fee:

150€ for members of the German Federation and people in full time education
175€ for non members of the German Federation
The fee includes all lectures, workshops and concerts.
